Titans: Season 1 Titles Updated

Titans is headed our way October 12 exclusively on DC Universe, and while we had revealed several episode titles here at TitansTV, it appears a small number of them were incorrect. (For starters, we assumed Season 1 would consist of 13 episodes rather than 12).

Here’s the updated list with the changed/updated titles posted in bold type. Obviously the titles themselves are spoilers for some characters we may see in Season 1.

#1.1 “Titans” (Pilot)
#1.2 “Hawk and Dove”
#1.3 “Origins”
#1.4 “Doom Patrol”
#1.5 “Together”

#1.6 “Jason Todd”

#1.7 “The Asylum”

#1.8 “Donna Troy”
#1.9 “Hank and Dawn”

Doom Patrol News: Timothy Dalton is The Chief

The Chief of the DC Universe Doom Patrol series has been found.

Timothy Dalton of James Bond, Penny Dreadful, and Doctor Who fame is playing The Chief in the live-action DC Comics adaptation that is due to come to DC Universe in 2019.

Bruno Bichir was announced as playing the role for his first appearance in Titans; we are curious if those scenes will be reshot, or if we will pretend that’s just a different universe, even though April Bowlby is Rita Farr in both versions. For a time, Kelsey Grammer (Frasier, X-Men: The Last Stand) was rumored as being in the running for the Chief role.

THR broke the news this afternoon. Here’s how they describe his character:

A pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as the Doom Patrol.

Titans on DC Universe: Premiere Date Announced

Tonight during the DC Daily live stream, it was announced that the DC Universe service will be premiering on “Batman Day” – Saturday, September 15. And if that’s not enough… we now have a premiere date for Titans Season 1!

The live-action Titans series for DC Universe will make its debut Friday, October 12 — just around the same time other DC shows like The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning and Arrow will be premiering their new seasons on The CW. It’s going to be a busy week!

The show will get a special preview at New York Comic-Con on October 3.

Titans will roll out with one episode per week, every Friday, and there are 12 episodes in Season 1. And, of course, if you subscribe to the DC Universe service, there will be the ability to read classic Teen Titans comic book runs. You can subscribe to DC Universe at DCUniverse.com.

It’s Here: The DC Universe Titans Trailer

After what feels like years of anticipation, the official trailer for the DC Universe original series Titans is here!

The trailer launch comes at the same time DC is having what we hear is an impressive DC Universe installation/display at the Comic-Con International in San Diego. Note the TV-MA warning – there’s an F-bomb and some serious violence within the trailer, but that’s only the start – check it out: Raven looks comics-perfect, Beast Boy is green, and Starfire is fiery! We can’t wait.

See some screen captures from the new Titans trailer at our general TV news site, KSiteTV!

Brenton Thwaites plays Dick Grayson/Robin, and the series also stars Teagan Croft, Anna Diop, Ryan Potter and many others. Here’s how they describe it:

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.

DC Universe is now open for registration at DCUniverse.com. It’s looking like it’s $74.99 for a year’s membership, which will include several original series, comics, and DC favorites; that may sound pricey but it averages to less than $7 per month — less than the cost of two comic books!

Geoff Johns Talks Titans

The Comic-Con special issue of TV Guide Magazine is now hitting newsstands, and in it, Geoff Johns talks a bit about what makes Titans so special.

“I think the reason Teen Titans has been so great is it’s a surrogate family of superhumans,” Johns said in the magazine. “There are a lot of super hero television shows and films out there, and we wanted to do something different — something that would be in the spirit of what the Teen Titans first did in the ’80s, taking these different characters from different walks of life and having them crash together to become a surrogate family. Then from there it deviates drastically. We’re telling the story in a very different way.”

Regarding Brenton Thwaites’ Dick Grayson a.k.a. Robin, “he’s left Gotham City and he’s left Batman.”

“He feels like he was made into a weapon and he’s trying to get away from [fighting crime]. Things draw him back in, and he’s struggling,” Johns explained. He also revealed that the series will tell a lot about the early journey of Rachel Roth (Teagan Croft), a.k.a. Raven.

“Rachel is very young. She’s 13 years old and manifesting some strange abilities,” Johns told TV Guide, noting some parallels between Bruce Wayne’s taking in of Dick Grayson and Dick’s interactions with Rachel.

Each member of the team will offer something special to this series.

“Rachel is a doorway to horror and the supernatural. Starfire is a doorwat to sci-fi, Beast Boy is a door to the Doom Patrol, and Robin’s a doorway to the vigilantes of the DC Universe,” Johns said, promising Titans is “more adult than any other DC superhero show by a pretty wide margin.”

“Each of the characters has individual arcs and storylines. It’s not a villain-of-the-week type of show. This is a 13-hour movie,” he said.

You can pick up the Comic-Con issue of TV Guide Magazine, complete with more quotes and details about the other DC Universe programs, this week at newsstands or at Comic-Con itself!

Titans is coming to the DC Universe platform later in 2018.
