Titans Casts The Doom Patrol’s Chief

Bruno Bichir (Absentia) has been cast to lead the Doom Patrol in the upcoming DC streaming live action Titans TV series.

Bichir’s Chief is basically the Doom Patrol’s answer to Professor X. Here’s how his character is described, with a description coming from Deadline:

Bichir will play Dr. Niles (The Chief) Caulder, a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant, but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as The Doom Patrol.

The fifth episode of Titans is called “The Doom Patrol,” so chances are good he’ll be showing up around that time. Deadline’s post says the role will be returning.

Titans is expected to hit later in 2018 and will star Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing), Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Anna Diop as Starfire, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove, and many more. Hopefully we will have a start date soon.

The Doom Patrol & Orphan Black Director Coming To Titans

The live-action Titans are going to be joined by another famous DC super-team on the series that is coming to the upcoming DC-branded streaming service.

DC’s Geoff Johns tweeted the cover page for the script for Episode 5 of Titans, which is called… “The Doom Patrol!” Johns is writer and Orphan Black director and co-creator John Fawcett is directing the episode. You can see the Tweet below.

Originally conceived at the same time as Marvel’s X-Men and with a similar outcast approach, the Doom Patrol has seen various iterations in the comics over the years, with the latest version coming from DC’s Young Animal imprint and currently crossing over with the Justice League in a story called “Milk Wars.” The character of Garfield Logan a.k.a. Beast Boy has long had ties to the Doom Patrol, and of course Beast Boy is part of this show as played by Ryan Potter.

We may note that we included some of our own casting choices for the Doom Patrol earlier this year, as we strongly suspected that the team would surface on Titans.

No premiere date is known yet for Titans but we can expect to see and hear more soon! Follow @TitansTV on Twitter for more show updates!

Titans TV Fantasy Casting: Who Else Could Show Up?

Titans is now filming in Toronto, Canada, and that surely means that we’re going to be getting more casting announcements in the coming months. It’s also a sure fact that the world of the Titans is huge and that there are many roles that will surely be filled.

While our last turn at playing armchair casting directors was all wrong (and hey – it’s fine, because David Rapaport & co. have found some amazing Titans!) – we’re going to give this another go for some characters that haven’t been announced yet.

Keep in mind that none of this fantasy casting is official, though if any of these pan out, we’d more than welcome it. Additionally, it is not guaranteed that any of these characters will actually surface on the Titans live-action series that is coming to DC’s upcoming streaming service.
