Teagan Croft Is Raven In DC’s Titans Show

Deadline has announced Teagan Croft as the first actor to be cast for the upcoming Titans series for the DC Comics streaming service. And she will be playing… Raven?!?!

Yes, even though she looks like she could be a dead ringer for Terra, Australian newcomer Teagan Croft has been cast in the role of Raven for the series. Raven in this project is described as “the daughter of a demon, is a powerful empath who must keep her emotions in check or risk unleashing her demonic side.”

Like all good Australian actors, Croft’s past credits include Home and Away.

Interesting trivia: Raven herself was once developed as a series for The CW which never happened.

Look for Titans in 2018.

13 Episode Commitment For Titans?

An article at Deadline about writer/producer Akiva Goldsman mentions the direct-to-the-DC-streaming-service Titans briefly. In doing so, a 13 episode commitment is mentioned; something we aren’t sure is out before.

Here is exactly what was said:

He also is teamed with Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti at Warner Bros on Titans, based on the DC Comics property Teen Titans revolving around Nightwing, Batman’s sidekick Dick Grayson after he goes off on his own. Goldsman co-write the pilot with Johns;  it has been set for a 13-episode commitment and will launch DC’s new digital platform.

13 episodes, eh? What does everyone want to see on Titans? Leave some comments below.

(Also, “Goldsman co-write the pilot with Johns?” Someone should hire some editors over there at Deadline… in any event, the typo remains as it originally was seen.)

Titans Filming Now Set For Toronto

It was earlier reported that Titans would begin shooting September 25 in Atlanta, Georgia… now, it seems there has been a change of plans.

Newer production listings still see Titans lensing on September 25, but the filming location is now Toronto, Canada.

With Black Lightning already scheduled to be shooting in Atlanta, and every other DC show filming in Vancouver, perhaps a different location is a good thing that will allow a new talent pool of actors to appear on the show.

Toronto is currently home to some genre shows including Freeform’s Shadowhunters so this should work out well, if Toronto is indeed the Titans’ destination.

Titans Live-Action Series: Character Breakdowns Surface

That Hashtag Show apparently has casting breakdowns for the four leads of the upcoming Titans show for DC’s streaming service. Of course, the character breakdowns have fake names, but we all know who they are. (If you don’t, John Crossland = Dick Grayson, Sarah = Raven, Casey = Starfire, Jax = Beast Boy).

Already this is sounding so much better than the first iteration of the project…

[John Crossland] Male, late 20s-early 30s, Caucasian. Equal parts charm and impenetrability, John is a cop. He has a nice smile, tired eyes and a cool, distant manner. However, when provoked, his eyes are so lethal “they drain a man of every last bit of spleen.” John is haunted by the murder of his family. Unbeknownst to those around him, he is also a vigilante. In the shadows, he fights with the commitment and conviction of an artist, the brutal grace of a dancer. Mentally and physically, he is covered in a map of scars. And though he fights to escape his past, it is often a losing battle…SERIES LEAD

[SARAH] Female, Mid teens, Open Ethnicity. Troubled, bullied, often scared but unwilling to show it, Sarah is a loner more comfortable hiding in her hoodie than making friends. Haunted by a dark force inside her, Sarah experiences violent episodes that she cannot understand or control. She is also plagued by recurring nightmares that lead her across the country in search of help…SERIES REGULAR

[Casey] Female, 20s, Open ethnicity. Casey is a tall, stunning woman, her beauty so magnificent it’s almost inhuman. Elegant, refined and mysterious, she is on the hunt to discover who is trying to kill her and why. And those after her are in for a surprise because she’s more deadly than anyone they’ve ever encountered…SERIES REGULAR

[JAX] Male, Mid-late teens, Open Ethnicity, Asian preferred. Funny and charming, this amateur thief’s humor hides his insecurities and past pain. Not the toughest kid on the streets, he’s learned to survive in the world with his wit and quick-thinking…SERIES REGULAR

Titans Filming May Start September 25 In Atlanta

Filming for the DC streaming service‘s Titans may be happening sooner than we all expected!

Industry website My Entertainment World is reporting a September 25 start date for Titans in Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta was home to Constantine as well as the Black Lightning pilot and is quickly growing as a “go-to” place for these things, with newer state-of-the-art facilities and tax incentives. At our sister site XMenTV we’re even reporting a tip that the X-Men related series The Gifted will lens there.

DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns has recently Tweeted about his involvement with writing the Titans and has hinted that those developments may even involve Beast Boy who was not a part of the TNT Titans treatment. Johns is joined in the production by Akiva Goldsman as well as DCTV mainstays Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.

More information as it becomes available…

Geoff Johns Is Writing Some Titans Today

Fresh off the recent big news that Titans is back on as a thing that will be happening, DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns Tweeted this morning that he’s spending his Friday writing some Titans.

“Enjoying an early Friday writing,” DC’s Chief Creative Officer posted.

Johns is arguably the best writer to have handled the Titans since the glory days of Marv Wolfman, George Perez, and Wolfman’s other collaborators, so this is very cool news to see.

In another Tweet about the Titans TV project being back on, Johns included the hashtag #BeastBoy. Hmm… Interestingly, we heard that Beast Boy was not among the plans when the show was at TNT, so this is cool.
