Jake Michaels In The Doom Patrol’s Robotman In Titans

Cliff Steele a.k.a. Robotman has been cast for the fifth episode of DC’s upcoming Titans live-action series for their streaming service.

The episode is called “The Doom Patrol” and of course, Robotman has been one of the most prominent members of that team.

ComicBook is reporting today that Jake Michaels (Designated Survivor) has landed the role. Here’s the official description for the character from the studio:

A former race car driver, Cliff Steele was in a horrific accident that left his body uninhabitable. Cliff’s brain was saved by the mysterious Dr. Niles Caulder and he lives on in a powerful robotic body.

Titans is heading our way later this year.

Titans Casts April Bowlby As Elasti-Girl

April Bowlby, whose previous credits include Drop Dead Diva and Two and a Half Men, will be appearing on DC’s Titans as Doom Patrol member Elasti-Girl, as revealed by EW.com today.

(Before you ask, DC Comics had an Elasti-Girl long before The Incredibles did.)

Here’s the description that EW provided:

An actress on the rise, Rita Farr was exposed to a toxic gas that altered her cellular structure — which, in the comics, allows her to expand or shrink her body at will. Longing for the days of old, Rita finds a place for herself among The Doom Patrol.

The character is expected to make her first appearance in the episode appropriately called “The Doom Patrol.”

Titans is expected to be coming to the upcoming DC streaming service later this year.

Titans Casts The Doom Patrol’s Chief

Bruno Bichir (Absentia) has been cast to lead the Doom Patrol in the upcoming DC streaming live action Titans TV series.

Bichir’s Chief is basically the Doom Patrol’s answer to Professor X. Here’s how his character is described, with a description coming from Deadline:

Bichir will play Dr. Niles (The Chief) Caulder, a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant, but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as The Doom Patrol.

The fifth episode of Titans is called “The Doom Patrol,” so chances are good he’ll be showing up around that time. Deadline’s post says the role will be returning.

Titans is expected to hit later in 2018 and will star Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson (Robin/Nightwing), Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Anna Diop as Starfire, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove, and many more. Hopefully we will have a start date soon.

The Doom Patrol & Orphan Black Director Coming To Titans

The live-action Titans are going to be joined by another famous DC super-team on the series that is coming to the upcoming DC-branded streaming service.

DC’s Geoff Johns tweeted the cover page for the script for Episode 5 of Titans, which is called… “The Doom Patrol!” Johns is writer and Orphan Black director and co-creator John Fawcett is directing the episode. You can see the Tweet below.

Originally conceived at the same time as Marvel’s X-Men and with a similar outcast approach, the Doom Patrol has seen various iterations in the comics over the years, with the latest version coming from DC’s Young Animal imprint and currently crossing over with the Justice League in a story called “Milk Wars.” The character of Garfield Logan a.k.a. Beast Boy has long had ties to the Doom Patrol, and of course Beast Boy is part of this show as played by Ryan Potter.

We may note that we included some of our own casting choices for the Doom Patrol earlier this year, as we strongly suspected that the team would surface on Titans.

No premiere date is known yet for Titans but we can expect to see and hear more soon! Follow @TitansTV on Twitter for more show updates!

Is Titans Casting Ra’s Al Ghul?

Enough Ra’s is enough!

Not content for us having different actors playing Ra’s al Ghul in Batman Begins, Arrow and Gotham, a casting breakdown posted by That Hashtag Show implies that yet another Ra’s actor may be on the way — for DC’s streaming Titans.

Here’s the breakdown so you can see it for yourself:

Male, 40s-50s, Middle Eastern, Latin, or East Indian. Seeking a young Richard Attenborough type. Fearless, manipulative, with unparalleled intelligence. Recurring guest star, seeking recognizable faces only.

Titans is coming to the still unnamed DC Comics-based streaming service which just announced a Metropolis series. Also on the service will be a third season of Young Justice, titled Young Justice: Outsiders.

Castle’s Seamus Dever To Recur On Titans

No details about his character are available at this time, but Deadline is reporting that Castle actor Seamus Dever will be appearing on Titans in a recurring role.

It’s possible that Dever is playing Raven’s father Trigon who the Titans Podcast suspects will be coming to the series — the timeline certainly would match. Though, it would also be interesting if he were to play a very different kind of Slade Wilson, wouldn’t it be?

Hopefully we’ll have more news soon.

Titans, a live-action take on the classic Teen Titans characters from DC Comics, will be coming to a DC-branded streaming service in 2018.

Titans TV Fantasy Casting: Who Else Could Show Up?

Titans is now filming in Toronto, Canada, and that surely means that we’re going to be getting more casting announcements in the coming months. It’s also a sure fact that the world of the Titans is huge and that there are many roles that will surely be filled.

While our last turn at playing armchair casting directors was all wrong (and hey – it’s fine, because David Rapaport & co. have found some amazing Titans!) – we’re going to give this another go for some characters that haven’t been announced yet.

Keep in mind that none of this fantasy casting is official, though if any of these pan out, we’d more than welcome it. Additionally, it is not guaranteed that any of these characters will actually surface on the Titans live-action series that is coming to DC’s upcoming streaming service.

We’re limiting to only a few per page so be sure to navigate through the pages properly. You can start by navigating below. Enjoy!

Titans Recruits An Arrow Villain & Casts Acolyte

A villain that was seen on The CW series Arrow may be in the first episode of the upcoming live-action Titans series, seemingly confirming that the show will take place in a totally different universe.

The IMDb page for Titans lists actor Mark Antony Krupa (Rogue) as playing Konstantin Kovar. First appearing in DC Comics with Teen Titans #18 back in 1968 and created by Marv Wolfman and the late Len Wein, Kovar is the father of the Titans-affiliated character Leonid Kovar who was eventually known as Red Star. Could this mean that Red Star might show up on the series as well? Maybe!

Konstantin Kovar was a major figure in the Arrow Season 5 flashbacks where he was played by Dolph Lundgren.

Do note that this casting is not yet officially confirmed by the studio; we have reached out and hopefully we will get confirmation soon.

In addition to the Kovar casting, it looks like Titans has found their villain, the Acolyte. Jarreth Merz (MacGyver, Six, Ben-Hur, ER) is listed as playing the role. The recent Twitter follows from Mr. Merz include Titans’ Brenton Thwaites which could lead credence to the accuracy of this casting.

First Look Photo: Live-Action Hawk and Dove From DC’s Titans!

Warner Bros. Television has released a first-look photo at two more characters from the upcoming Titans live-action series for the DC Comics streaming service!

This time the spotlight falls on Hawk (Hank Hall, as played by Alan Ritchson) and Dove (Dawn Granger, as played by Minka Kelly), with suits designed by Laura Jean Shannon (Black Lightning, Iron Man, The Jungle Book).

Titans comes from Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital service will be operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks.

Take a look at the photo of the two actors in costume below. For Ritchson, that’s certainly an upgrade from his Aquaman look from Smallville, right?

From executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, TITANS is an all-new live-action drama series that follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. TITANS is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever.

Could Titans Cross Over With The Arrowverse?

One still-persisting question about DC’s Titans for their streaming service is whether or not the show exists in the same world as the “Arrowverse” of series including Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl.

We’ve even wondered, ourselves, if Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) might be speeding over to the show.

On the bright side, it would add a cohesion to the DC world of TV; on the other, it would create some limitations; for example, Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke would have to be the very busy Manu Bennett.

At the recent ACE Comic Con, a fan asked Arrow Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim if we will be seeing a crossover… and here’s what he said:

“Great question, again, above my pay grade. I will say this, the one thing I’ve learned is ‘never say never.’ I could not begin to tell you how often we say to each other, ‘We never thought any of this was going to happen. We never thought we’d see all these characters. We never thought there’d be a universe.’ So, never say never, but in terms of which characters be on which shows, what’s part of the universe, above my pay grade and probably that’s a good thing.”
